UK Square reader not Compatible in the UK???

i have a brand new UK square card reader.

When trying to pair it to my phone its says that it's not compatible for the country i'm in. Which is the UK

 

 

How do i fix this!?

Hey @LarusoTours - where did you get your reader from? 

It's not something I've heard of before - but are you using an iPhone by any chance?

@LarusoTours was it 'sold by' amazon? I'm only pressing the point as there was a bit of a supply shortage last month & saw quite a few imported ones up for sale via amazon & ebay & not sure if that's an issue. 

If you have the iCloud + or extra storage with apple could their vpn style service be doing something? Could be worth checking that Private Relay is turned off in your iCloud settings then trying again. 

If neither of these apply or fix then get in touch with customer care in the morning as could be something at account level. Their details are here.

Hello, I have the exact same problem, but I bought it directly from this UK website, to use it here in the UK, which I do not understand how can this happen... Can I get a help as soon as possible please?? I also cant verify my identity for some reason as well, despite I uploaded correct information...

Hey @lenka_komorebi, welcome to the Community! 

 

This definitely does not sound like expected behavior. Are you receiving any error messages on the screen when trying to pair the reader at all? If so, could you please send over a screenshot of it? Was the reader purchased directly from the Square Shop website or a third-party website? 

 

When you have a moment. could you also please try doing a hard reset on the reader? To do so, hold down the Reader button for about 10 seconds until the lights start flashing red (they'll flash orange first, don't take your finger off the button then, wait until the lights are flashing red), then release the button. Resetting the reader usually fixes a lot of common issues, so let me know how that goes. 

 

As for the identity verification, would you be able to provide more information on the issue you've encountered, please? The more information we have with regards to this the better equipped we will be at finding a resolution.
