Trying to connect square reader (1st gen) keeps saying reinstallation required

I’m trying to connect my square reader to my phone for the first time.

it keeps saying it failed and keeps coming up saying reinstallation required.

 

Ive deleted the reader from the apps and my Bluetooth multiple times, retried and still having the same issue.

 

Ive switched my phone off and on, charged the reader etc, still can’t get it to connect.

please help!!

I am sorry to hear about your experience pairing your reader. From what I can read you have done your fair share of troubleshooting. However, I don't see you mentioning deleting the Square Point of Sale Application and downloading it once again. Have you tried that step?

I've done all of the above, including deleting POS app and reinstalling & it's still coming up "Reinstallation Required". Help please?

When was the last time you updated the software on your mobile device? Additionally, what device are you currently using to pair your reader with?
