Time Based Category on Square Register

I've seen the article "time based category for square online" but Is there anyway to disable the entire category on square POS? We are using Square Register

 

For example, we open until 3 am, but due to local restrictions, we cannot sell alcohol after 1 am. We have set alarms, and modifiers to remind our cashiers but human error will always occur from time to time.

 

I would like to completely disable the entire category so that there is no way cashier could ring up a beer after 1am. 

 

Clover and Toast POS could do this, is there anyway Sqaure can add it?

Hi @TheLabCincy.  Square also has this availability, but it is NOT available on the free/standard POS.  But the Square Restaurants POS allows us to create time-based menus, which would be perfect for your situation and is exactly what it was created for.  (I’m assuming you are using the standard POS since you posted on that board.)

 

Square for Restaurants is a subscription feature.  As long as you don’t need any of the advanced features (such as course management, etc., you can probably get by with the free tier.  Otherwise there are monthly fees per POS device.  Here’s a link to the pricing and feature comparison charts.
