Struggling to get a Monthly vs Annual Subscription Model

Hey everyone,

Pretty new to building on square and am struggling to get an item to display both our monthly subscription ($89/month) as well as an annual option ($961.20/year ($89x12 with 10% discount).

At first I had it so that the $89/month was being billed annually but it was literally only billing $80.1 annually.. i thought i was onto something by making the base price the annual fee but i was incorrect.

Let me know if any of you have run into this before and can help out, thanks.

Hello and welcome to the Square Community, @silvertechguy! Congrats on your first post ๐ŸŽ‰ My name is Violet and I'm one of the Moderators here. I'm happy to help you with setting up your Subscriptions.

You'll need to set up two separate Subscriptions, one for each frequency. Below, I've included some screenshots below to show how to do this, by using the "duplicate" feature, and then editing the frequency and discount appropriately.

Here is the monthly frequency with no Discount:

Here's where you can find the "duplicate" feature:

Here is the yearly frequency with the 10% Discount:

Violet, I'm having the exact same problem. WHY do I have to create two different links when the subscription configuration allows me to create different payment frequencies? Why can't the customer visit one link and choose the frequency for themself? What's the point of having those options in the subscription configuration if they don't work?

I'm very frustrated with this.

Glad I found your post. I assumed I was inputting the price for the item incorrectly because the subscription allows us to offer monthly and yearly plans, but the amount stays the same if they pay yearly or monthly. The plan is supposed to be $29 a month or $348.00 a year. If they pick yearly, it stays at $29.00 a year. ๐Ÿ˜•

It should automatically calculate the yearly price for the customer, which would be $29*12=$348.00, not stay at $29.00. The customer would get a bonanza deal and I lose money.

Violet, I'm trying to make this work. I understand when you say I have to set up separate subscription plans for each frequency (in my case: monthly, twice a year, and annually).

But do I also need to create separate items (monthly $20, twice a year $120, and annually $300), and add the right one to the right subscription plan?

Or do I just create one item (membership $20) and then add that item to each plan with different billing frequencies? If I do this, will Square understand that the $20 is for one month and then multiply the price times 6 for twice a month?

Please help. I really need to get this working.

mikesclub,

The function and process that Square uses to create these subscriptions is broken! it is not you, you are thinking about this the correct way, yet their system does not allow it.

Basically I want to create a Cookie Subscription where yearly is 140$ and Quarterly is 35$.

Ideally I want to set the item as 35$ and have the default be Quarterly, then when they choose Annually it would understand logic and times 35 by 4 to give you 140$ and then allow you to offer a discount if you want.

This system will see the base price of the item at 35$ and not do any math at all, if you choose Annual it will be 35$ a year and if you choose Quarterly it will stay 35$ a quarter.

This is completely stupid and a broken function!
