Store text is invisable

So I have all the backgrounds on default coloring.  When I pretend to be a customer on my new square website, the text format is terrible.  There is text that is white just like the back ground.  I tried playing with the layout, and defaults to see if I can see the text but i cannot figure it out.  If my customer wants to pick a time for local pick up what not it wont show any of the times but the buttons are there.  The problem is simply the text is white and background is white.  Additionally, I don't know if it is because this current issue but it looks like I cannot select pickup.  It only lets me do delivery I believe as a customer.  May not be a issue and I just don't know because the text is all white and basically invisable.

Hi @reptilexempress.  Would you mind sharing your website URL, please?

@reptilexempress Thank you.  So let’s do a couple of things.

First, edit your site.  Go to Site design and scroll down to Global styles.  Check the colors, especially for Title and Paragraph.  Or you can simply press the “reset to default” button to erase any inadvertent changes that you might have made before.  Make changes and click done.  My guess is that your Title and Paragraph colors are not black, but white, which is also probably what your background color is.

Publish your site, and look again.  If that doesn’t fix it, try this.

Edit your site again.  This time go to the page “Order Online.” Click on Item List, then scroll down and select Customize -> Layout and color.  Look at the color style.  If the selected one doesn’t look right, select either “Default” or one that you can see background, text and the button.  Then click Done.

After that, go back to the page selection list and select any (it doesn’t matter which” item page. Click on Item Details and scroll down to Color style.  Carry out the same changes as I outline in the paragraph above for Color Style.

Click Done and Publish again.

This should fix your problems.  Let me know if it doesn’t. (Or if it does! LOL)

Your answer worked.  Thank you.  Had to change from default to a different color theme.   Also is there anyway to improve how slow it loads?

I’m happy that worked!  As for the slow loading time, the first time anyone goes to your web site, it’s a slow load because it is downloading your photos that are included on the home page.  So if you have lots of photos, and very hi-res photos, on the home page it can take a while.  After that initial load, it should be quicker on subsequent visits.

Since I’m not an Instagram user, I am not sure.  But I’m betting that that long list of “Explore our Instagram” photos is the main culprit here.  See if you can work on the configuration of that section to limit how many photos are in that main feed.  Or, alternatively, choose to add your own photo section, and just have a link to your Instagram page.  While integrations like this are nice, they can add a lot of needless overhead to our web pages, especially if they are on the home page.

I’d also be inclined to delete Featured Items from my home page and have it on the Shop Now page instead.  It makes more sense there, to me.

Your online store has the correct layout for a store with as many items as you have. So I really think that your biggest problem is the number of large, hi-res photos on your home page.  Fix that and new visitors to your site should have a better experience.

Best,
