Stop Kitchen Names showing on KDS

Does anyone know how to stop kitchen display names showing on the KDS?

We're a new cafe and initially used printed tickets and added a full description in the Kitchen Name field to help the cook know what was in each dish. However, it soon became apparent that on large orders have that much info on the ticket just became confusing. So, with the printer you can just switch off kitchen names with one setting.

Now we've moved to KDS and by default it's showing the long kitchen names again and there doesn't seem to be an option to switch it off.

I can delete the kitchen name in each item and get the menu name to show but I'd rather not remove all the kitchen names in case we ever need to use them again - plus there are hundreds of them and it takes ages (this could be made a lot simpler if you could edit all the fields in an item in a grid view without clicking in and out of each one... but that's a different post)

I think Square is great but this seems to be just one of a growing list of 'features' that could easily be made better with a bit of thought.

Can you send me a screenshot of what the display names currently look like on your KDS? I don't have my own KDS to test on, so once I can see what you are looking for, I'll escalate this to our product team to see if hiding the display names is possible.

I'm not at the cafe today and the setting I'm talking about is only accessible via the printer settings on the register and not in the dashboard but I can explain further (and I don't think a screen shot will help anyway)....

For each item there is a 'Name' and a 'Kitchen-facing Name'. On the printer config you can toggle showing the name or the kitchen-facing name on the ticket with one setting in the printer config menu.

On KDS, it always shows the Kitchen-Facing name and I can't find a similar setting to switch it off. I can get the KDS to show the 'Name' by deleting the kitchen-facing name altogether but I don't want to delete them all in case I want to use them in the future.

I don't think there actually is a way to do this so this is probably a feature request rather than something you can help me with.
