Square terminal as customer display

Hi I have a customer that is asking the following 

 

they have an iPad with receipt printer set up 

they want to use the square terminal as a customer display and card reader.

 

They don’t want the square terminal to print anything but have all transactions cash card etc all print on the main iPad printer like a square reader would do is that possible? Basically it would act only as a card terminal with display and all printing is done on the main connected register 

 

also they asked if loyalty messages would pop up on square terminal that is connected to iPad

Hi @PridePOS.  The Terminal can be set up as a “Connected Terminal” in Square POS, Restaurants POS, and Retail POS.  This is done in the Hardware settings, using “Square Terminal.”  Once set up, after pressing Pay on the POS there will be an option to send the payment to the Terminal where the customer can review the sale and make payment on the Connected Terminal.  And, yes, the ability to both sign up for and view existing loyalty points will be displayed on the Connected Terminal.

 

To your questions about printing…. If the customer chooses to print a receipt, that receipt currently prints on the Terminal printer.  Of course, you can always print another (bigger) receipt from the POS.  Obviously, if there’s no paper in the terminal, no receipt will print there, and one will have to be manually printed from the POS.  Currently, there is no setting to say to print all receipts from the POS receipt printer when using Connected Terminal as a payment device.  My customers actually love the smaller format receipt, so I’ve never considered that an issue at all.
