Why do both of our Square Terminals constantly disconnect from our business WiFi.
I have even stood next to the router and the signal just drops out, making them no more than expensive paperweights.
Zettle have a terminal that uses WiFi and has a back up sim card, so payments are never missed. I have emailed square asking when/if this could be available on square, but again no response.
the only workaround is to have a phone in your pocket and connect the terminal to the phone and use it as a hotspot - not ideal.
Do other people have issues with their Square terminals, or do people just switch to something that is reliable?

Sorry to hear this, your Terminals definitely shouldn't be disconnecting intermittently.
I would suggest checking the network requirements listed in this Terminal Troubleshooting article. And also follow the factory reset guide as this usually helps.
If this doesn't help resolve the connectivity issue you will need to reach out to our support team directly, they have a process to follow which can help identify the root cause of the issue - be it the Terminal or an issue with the network.
Regarding the sim card, we don't offer a feature like that but we are working on Offline Mode - we'll be sure to announce on the Community when it is available. Feel free to check out our Beta Community also and potentially get access to new features like it.

I have though already, last year and this year reported the issue to square support team and have sent through a video of the terminal disconnecting next to the router, switching from 4 bars to nothing. Nothing was heard back from the engineers and we cannot continue without a reliable payment option.
I have also gone through the whole troubleshooting guide on numerous occasions, with no success. I am though open to any other suggestions you have before going with either Zettle or Lightspeed using the verifone v400m for transactions.
