Square Account Ownership and Liability for UK Limited Companies

Im thinking of starting a square account taking card payments.

Im uk based with a ltd company but cant seem to find any info on liability.

So im guessing the the ltd is responsible financially and not me personally

Thanks in advance .

Ps customer services had no idea

Hi @James0Bsc! Welcome, and thanks for reaching out to us with your question!

When you create a Square account in the UK, you can set it up for your limited company and link your company’s bank account. However, Square still requires an individual to be listed as the account owner. As part of verification and regulatory requirements, you’ll be asked to provide both your personal details and your company information, along with contact details for the business.

Square may perform additional account reviews after your account is up and running, and may contact the business using the information provided by the account owner during setup. Square can only assess and manage the account based on the business details you supply.

You can find more information about these requirements under Step 4 of our setup guide, just look for the section on Limited Company.

For more information, please visit Square's Payment Terms.
