My Socket bluetooth scanner is not connecting after the app updated to version 5.76. Any workaround for this or is anyone having the same problem. I've tried everything to fix it but nothing seems to work

My Socketscan 700 attached to my ipad Air 1 has been working perfectly until last week when there was a software update. It is now no longer working.
The scanner does work with other ipads and iphones which are newer vintage, so i know it is not a problem with the scanner itself.
The ipad still works fine and is in a square stand.
Any ideas other than buying a new ipad?
I am not an Apple wizard but was wondering if you can go back to a previous version of ios. There has been reports where ios 15.0 on Ipads does not work correctly with Square. I am still using ios 14.8, and keep getting messages that ios 15 has not beeen updated do I want to try this again.... I say no and just use 14.8 for now.
So my question is could you go back it ios 14.8 and see if that is possible and may solve your problem? I think if you get a new ipad at it has ios 15.0 or updates to 15.0 you may have the same problem, that the scanner may not work.
The other idea is to try getting the latest driver from the scanner for ios 15.0.
This type of problem should be addressed by Square, not Apple. Rolling back to a previous os might resolve the issue, but a patch from Square is what we should hope to see to resolve this issue.
Same issue. This is definitely a Square software issue. I am waiting to see an update to fix this issue. Hopefully it will happen soon.
Im still having issue and this is day 5. Getting different answer every time I call tech support.
I'm having trouble as well. We were able to get it to work with the regular "white" square but not the "green" square for retail. Now as of today neither is working. Have you contacted tech support yet?
I am having the same issue as well. As soon as the update was complete, none of my socket scanners will work.
I just got off the phone with tech support - they said an update with a fix for this will be rolled out "probably by tomorrow morning"

This is infuriating. My barcode scanner (Socket S700) has been working for over a year (replaced an older CH model that died) without any problem. This morning, it wouldn't connect. I checked the Square status website, no problems reported. My Square install was updated about a week ago. I tried everything from rebooting the iPad to uninstalling and reinstalling Square POS, but nothing worked. I lost count of the number of times I un-paired and re-paired the scanner. The problem isn't that the scanner isn't connecting to the iPad; it works fine with other apps.
Meanwhile, opened the store and have been looking up every item sold individually, frustrating customers and giving me a headache. Finally called tech support who offered no assistance beyond taking me through what I'd already done wasting another half hour, and blamed it on Socket Mobile, but at least gave me their tech support number. Called them and the moment I mentioned Square and barcode, they stopped me and said "it isn't connecting, right?" which I confirmed. They then said that Square knows about the issue - having caused it with some sort of block on Socket scanners connecting. Their agent said he'd dealt with dozens of calls in the past two days; it was not a Socket issue, and suggested I call Square back to see if they had an ETA on a fix. I appreciated his candor.
Called Square support back and at least then they admitted it is a known issue, promised a fix "in an hour" (which was four hours ago), and that they'd reach out when it was solved (confirming my telephone number and email address). So far, crickets.

How are we coming on this? Sure glad I just purchased a new Square Register so that I would have more POS for faster checkout. If I wouldn't have, I would have no working barcode scanner. Definitely not ideal when checking in inventory to stock up for the holidays! Hopefully this is resolved before Thanksgiving, or we are going to see some VERY long lines...
The problem either resolved itself or Square fixed it; we don't know because no one at Square reached out with an update.
Casey what version of square are you running now? The broken version was 5.76, correct? Can you check what version you have right now that is working with the barcode scanner? Gracias!!

Thank you! We just saw 5.76.1 come through for the "white" Square but nothing yet for the "green" Square for Retail. At least we can connect the scanner to "white" Square POS for now! Kind of annoys me that we pay so much extra for Square for Retail and we aren't able to use it for several days....
Thanks for this post RabbitFoodGro. I didn't think to check for the update on the "white" app. I have just been checking the Square for Retail app all day. Yes, agreed, we pay $60 a month for the benefits of Square for Retail and can't use a barcode scanner. We literally checked in a pallet worth of new product today for the Holidays and only had one working scanner instead of three.
In case anyone in this thread wasn't aware, update your app to 5.76.1 and the scanner should connect.
Still can't use scanner with Square for Retail. When I start up the Square POS app, it suggests using the Square for Retail app to take full advantage of my subscription...
The update JUST came through for me for Square for Retail. All iPads are now working with the scanners. 5.76.1 is the fix.
