Our Square Register just this a.m. updated to New Look
I complained about how slow it was on our other register which we do not use at the moment
Now we have to live with this annoying delay in "add" to order

Just to be clear, are you referring to the Square Register? If you're having issues with delays on the Register, there may be a pending software update available.
Would you mind walking through these troubleshooting steps? They will make sure any outstanding software glitches are nixed.

We had issues yesterday with our Square Register where it blacked out when reading the name on a chip card.
I received a message at the end of the day saying it had been fixed. After reboot the register went back to the old system which we had been using all week. Th "new look" only works on I pads it would seem. Is there an update for the register?
Thanks for clarifying that, @keyworth. You can check to see if your Register has a pending software update by tapping the down arrow at the top of your Register and selecting Settings > Hardware. Tap General > About Register > Software Update.
Yes the software is up to date but is not the same as I Pad. It was the same as I Pad yesterday but was having problems so the engineers reset it to old software which works on the SQ Register. So I was wondering if they are working on a fix for Sq Register
I have also noticed extreme slowness and intermittent freezing and crashing in the “new look.” This is on my iPads with Sqaure POS. (my store does not use the register.) I reported the problem and I was told to upgrade my iOS. I did this and it only seemed to marginally improve. The only thing that seems to help is reverting back to the “old” look. I’m worried because I know the old look will eventually go away. But it seems like there are definite problems with the new look that haven’t been solved. Anyone else having this experience still?
We have Square Register, Square Terminal, Square on Android Tablets, and on iPads. Everything is slow to respond with this "new look" and super irritating.
I use an ipad and find the keypad is terribly slow or unresponsive at times. Most of the time I must press a number several times and then when it works, I have multiple numbers and must clear to start over.
Yes we are all having problems - freezing I Pads, freezing Square Registers, Square Registers not taking chip payments all of a sudden, Square Registers not printing On Line orders. Told there was a bug weeks ago. Still no fix. One of my older I Pads will not sustain the Square App for more than 1 minute although it will run Square for Restaurant with no problem. Operating systems between Square and Mac must be in conflict!
I found this discussion about how slow the square register is but I notice that it happened long time ago, but unfortunately it happened again this saturday after they did their last update 9/18/2021 I have the same problem with slow system and delay to add the item and also this morning the system crashed after I made a transaction then I found that transaction is missing I called customer service they said that my transaction is voided and they can't do anything about it. So any help with this issue
After the recent updates all registers are super slow. I would say by at least 3 times. So something is definitely not right with the new update. All ipads are on the latest ios as well. On a fast bar situation it slows you down. Not sure why there was an update to slow down the system when it was working great before!
I agree. It is slowing down our line and badger business. Another thing, the print is much smaller when updating orders
Same slowness problem here. I had to revert to the old look.
I couldn't agree more! I hate the new look but I can live with it now that I'm getting used to it. I can't live with the slowness and freezing up. There's an old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Upgrades are supposed to make systems better, not worse!
Same here, our Square register has slowed down to the point where transactions are becoming difficult, worse yet the touch sensitivity is approaching UNUSABLE.
We are experiencing problems of slowing with the new look and we use POS, if we have items in grid it will take quite a bit of time to show up after we click on item and same if we use keypad to type in an amount to charge. How can I reinstall the older version of Point of Sale
Are you using Square Register. When you go to "Settings" it should say at the top
