Setting up square register

Hello, I have purchased a second hand square register kit from ebay and I have just turned the register on and it has the previous business name on the customer screen and on the staff side it is asking for a log in pin code. Obviously this is for the previous user/business. I can't work out how to get out of this screen and to set up our business on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When a Square Register is still linked to the previous owner's account, you'll need to perform a factory reset to remove their business information and start fresh with your own Square account.

Here’s how you can reset the device:

  1. Tap the back arrow on the bottom-left corner of the screen until you see the Sign In screen.

  2. If you're stuck on the employee PIN screen and can’t get to the sign-in screen, press and hold the power button, then select Settings > Hardware > General > Reset Device.

  3. Select Reset Settings. This will restore the device to its factory settings.

  4. Once it restarts, you’ll be prompted to sign in with your own Square account to begin setup.

Make sure the previous owner has fully unlinked the device from their Square account. If the reset option is greyed out or unavailable, it's likely the device is still connected to their account. In that case, you’ll need to reach out to the seller and ask them to contact Square Support to release the device.
