It appears that you cannot search transactions by customer name, is this correct or do I need to change a setting?
David
@seniorsgolf You can search by customer name, but the system will only know the name if you added the customer to the sale (such as an online sale or where you have added it in the pos).
you can also search by card number & I’ve found this to be the most useful - using either the last 4 digits or just having them tap their card to the reader.
Thank you for the reply.
All transactions have a customer name.
Using the card reader searching by name appears not to be available. But it is available in the App and on the web site.
using the card reader I can only retrieve the customers name for a transaction if I have access to their card.
When you say 'the reader' what do you mean?
As you say you can search in the app & on the web, but the reader doesn't have a screen so not totally sure we're talking about the same thing?
Profuse apologies. I was using 'Reader' in the generic sense. I am referring to the Square Terminal not being able to search transactions by customer name.
Once again, apologies for the confusion.
David
@seniorsgolf I’ve not got my terminal in front of me, but have searched by customer name before I’m sure.
I’d happily be proved wrong, but I think we’ve got crossed wired as to ‘has a customer name attached to the sale’
I think you may be adding a ticket name to the sale, & this is different to adding a customer to the sale.
is this the process you have:
Enter the items
click on ‘pay’
box comes up where you enter the name
continue to them paying
If so, then that’s adding ticket name not customer - so it wouldn’t show up in the search. (Adding a customer is a little more long winded, but would get you the results you want)
