SQUARE NOT PAIRING WITH GALAXY S8

Device not supported Google is unable to verify that your device is compatable with Android

I have just received my square and after ensuring the square was charged I downloaded the app and paired the devices. After successfully pairing via bluetooth I get the following message

 

Device not supported Google is unable to verify that your device is compatable with Android. Please try another device, or restore this one to factory settings. I have a samsung S8

Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you're having trouble connecting your reader to your Samsung S8.

 

You'll see this message when the reader's firmware detects a modified Android operating system that doesn't meet security requirements Square needs for card processing. Usually this is caused by things like developer mode being turned on, the device being rooted, or certain settings or apps conflicting with Square's security requirements. If you have any screen recording apps or apps that overlay or have access to the screen while Square is in use it's usually a good idea to turn these off or uninstall these apps.

 

If you're not sure what may be causing the issue, it can be difficult to work out exactly what on the phone is resulting in the conflict. The suggestion of performing a factory reset will take your phone back to the state it was in when it first came new out of the box, which is the state we test for compatibility with Square in.

I have turned off all my apps 1 by 1 and my device connects but Then it says that google cant verify my device again

Are you able to let me know what the exact wording of the error message you're seeing, or post a screenshot? This may help me better determine where the issue lies.

1st it says. SQUARE READER CONNECTED

then it says

CONTACTLESS IS ENABLED

then it says DEVICE NOT SUPPORTED

Google is unable to verify that your device is compatible with android (which is bull**bleep**, as it is compatible).

I cant send a screenshot coz theres no option here to attach files

Hey @Adamsfone,

 

It sounds like there is something on the phone that is interfering with our ability to form a secure connection with the phone to do things like process card payments, use PIN on glass tech, etc.

 

Do you know if developer mode is turned on at all, or if the phone is rooted? Or are there any apps that use the screen overlay function?

 

If this is not the case, the next step I'd suggest would be to perform a factory reset so the phone is in the same condition/operating environment as a new phone out of the box.

1. Sign in to your Square account

2. Head to our contact page https://squareup.com/help/au/en/contact

3. Go to "Other"" then "I don't see my issue"
