When restaurant customers input the tips using the Square app,
is any way for confirming tips amount?
For example,
The customer wants to input the custom amount tips $2.00 but the Customer input the $200 by mistake.
Is there a function to reconfirm the entered amount when the customer enters tips?
The customer makes input the wrong tips amount, so I have to make a refund but still transaction fee charges in there over $5. This is a mistake by the customer...
@soldam96 aggravating...yes. The change to the policy is annoying. But in your case, I think the 5$ is just cost of doing business. You can contact support and they may be able to help you.
Me personally, I understand what you are asking. In my experience, this is an extremely rare occurrence and adding more clicks/taps to a transaction slows down the checkout process.
Hi,Donnie,
Thank you for your response.
I contacted support and square want to see this tractions so I sent it.
As a carry out restaurant system,Square needs more update system for this.
It seems not easy to ask customer when they try input the tips.
Thank you again
Square replied as below:
Thank you for all the information that you sent.
I took a look at the transaction and saw that the $5.85 was to cover the processing fees for this transaction. When you issue a refund, your customer receives the amount that you decide to refund, but Square does not cover the processing fees.
It might be helpful to know that the bulk of fees paid are in turn passed on to our suppliers. When you process a transaction, Square must pay interchange fees, assessment fees, and more for every transaction, making it difficult to pass on any savings to businesses.
If you want to learn more about card processing fees and how they are distributed, head over to the FAQ
I hope you find this information helpful. If you have any questions about this or another thing that we can help you with, feel free to email us again. I'll be here to assist you.
Regards,
Currently this would fall under a feature request I believe, you can create a Feature Request Here.
I believe a more useful tool (feel free to take credit for this when creating a feature request) would be to be able to edit the check and tip amount after it's authorized to allow for mistakes to be fixed. While this is a common feature in some Restaurant POS systems it's not standard for Square at this time. Many systems allow you to reopen closed checks, split stuff off, reauthorize or adjust tips, etc. It's not always about the tip if a server or manager accidentally closes a check out too quickly it can lead to mistakes that need to be resolvable while the guest or customer is still there. Obviously you would need to get a new signature or authorization from the guest but it generally has a paper trail so there aren't issues later and it is generally a manager function to prevent servers from reopening closed checks and doing weird stuff.
All the best, I used to be in hospitality so I know how often checks can get reopened. In the event checks are reopened before close of day the processing fee should also reflect the actual amount, granted it becomes trickier if it's after the fact, but a check same day is essentially a preauthorization.
Thank you for your response
I will send out feature request as you show me.I didn't know that.
