What's going on with Square's recent service disruptions that seem to occur regularly one or twice a week? In August alone they had 8 disruptions, which tallies into 25 percent of the month. Frankly, I'm fed up. The disruptions, the poor tech support, the prices. I'm looking into Toast this week. Does anyone have any input?

Since only one of those disruptions affected my business — and that one for less than an hour — then my business was only affected 1 out of 300 operating hours, which comes out to less than 1/2%. Are you saying that you, personally, were affected by every one of those hours, and that you were unable to use Square 25% of August? If so, that is extremely bad luck, for sure. Yes, there are regular outages sometimes, but they seem to be all over the place. Before jumping ship, I’d quantify how much each August outage affected your business. If it is like mine — less than 1% — then I’m not sure I understand the problem, really.
It sounds like you’ve made up your mind, so I wish you well with Toast. I can tell you that having been in the hospitality business for two decades I know more than a few people using Toast and Clover. You’ll just have to trust me when I say that no one who uses a POS is without the same complaints at various times. The grass is rarely greener on the other side — it’s usually just different grass with plenty of occasional weeds. Maybe your experience will be different. Best of luck.
