After checking out on the Square POS Register, the receipt is automatically printed on the receipt printer (TSP143III) without manually requesting it. How can I change this setting so that receipts are printed manually instead?

This can be accomplished by creating Printer Profiles for your printers. Printer Profiles can be found by visiting More > Settings > Hardware > Printers > Profiles
You can create a printer profile for each of your printers so they behave just like you want them to. You can learn more about Printer Profiles here.
