My customers keep getting this notification when they have an item and a donation in their cart.
Unfortunately since your order is already set as manual, you cannot add other items under another fulfillment method. Please remove the items or update your selected fulfillment method.
What Can I do?
HI, non-physical item and physical item can not share the cart. Each would need a separate transaction.
Darn... Is there a way to make that clear to the user? Besides a note on the Donation Description?

Other than the note in the donation description, you could potentially add a pop-up banner to your site with this information so that they are aware as soon as they begin shopping.

Our site lost a lot of sales until a customer reported this error message that appeared on checkout:
That message is totally confusing. By process of elimination in testing checkout, I discovered the donation item was triggering this message. In testing, even when the donation was removed from the cart, the order could not checkout -- a new order had to begin to remove this message.
Square should make this issue more apparent in the Online website editor. If a seller puts both donations and physical items on the same online store, the website editor should alert the seller that these must be checked out separately.
Why does square not allow physical and donations to be purchased in the same shopping cart?
I totally agree. I am missing out on donations because customers don't want to make separate transactions and that's incredibly frustrating as a small business owner. Square can we please fix this?!
