Pre-paid invoices

I have a customer who's subscription is prepaid by his dad.  How do I handle this on his invoices since they haven't been created yet?

Hi @FoxxieMom.  The easiest thing to do would be to add Dad’s payment card as a card of file for Son, then when you create each invoice you can specify to charge to the card on file.

Otherwise, there is no mechanism in Subscriptions for what you want to do.  I tried creating a $0 plan and adding it to a new subscription, but it complained about that.

I should also point out that if you do what I suggest, AND if you’ve already charged Dad’s card for the subscription series, you’ll have to refund Dad’s card for the unused portion so that you can charge his card on file monthly.

That would work except that the dad's card is constantly changing and sometimes he pays and sometimes he doesn't.  My work around that I hope works is I made a recurring plan for this guy and set it up to send out an invoice in 5 months.  I tried doing a subscription that way but it didn't like the fact that this customer has no email and has no card on file.  The recurring thingy worked because I could set it up manually.  It truly is a pain, but hopefully it will work.

Thanks for your response.  I had thought about that but was afraid to try it since these folks are so "iffy".
