Possible scam or newby issue customers asking for email of intended recipient of funds

Forgive me I'm new to this but I have recently had two customers message me through my social media stating that they are being prompted to provide the email of the intended recipient of funds before they can pay their invoices but square isn't showing that they've even viewed the invoices yet. I've sent test invoices to both my personal and business emails and haven't run into this issue myself so thinking scam or am I wrong?

Thanks for your time

@HoltCC Yea, the invoice payment link is a portal for the customer to input their credit card information etc.  There is nothing they have to do all the business info is populated.  Unless there was something whacky with their bank/card, I would just get the link to the invoice from your online dashboard and you can give it to them, or you can even create a share manual link.  A quick dirty way would be to add yourself as an e-mail recipient and then grab that link/email and forward to them.  I have done this on occasion to see what the customer sees.
