Last Saturday morning (3 Jun 23) ALL 3 of our Square stands stopped working with our USB barcode readers! All worked Friday (2 Jun 23) at the end of the day, came in Saturday and NONE of them worked!
Talked to support Wednesday (7 Jun 23), they said there had been an update over night (2-3 June 23)... Had me reload the software and that did NOT help!
If we remove the Ipad, the camera will act as a scanner still. If we reboot the Ipad the Barcode reader will work for +-30 minutes, then Square ignores it. It beeps (So it IS reading the barcode), but Square ignores it!!!!
Does anybody know what is going on here?
This is beyond inconvenient!
It seems like the update last week BROKE Square for Retail!!!!!
This system as set up has been working for over 6 months just fine until the morning of 3 Jun 23.
I am 50 miles away from the non profit museum this is set up in, so troubleshooting has been a bit challenging.
Thoughts?
@surpdlr do all the normal stuff, update iOS, update the retail app (go into the app in the app store and make sure it is updated). Make sure to hard power the stand by unplugging it.
Last step would be to download the regular POS app and try that with your scanner and see if it works. I haven't had any trouble and I have at least 4 scanners working each day.
One suggestion would be to go into your hardware settings on the POS app and make sure it is seeing the correct scanner. That happened to me one time after an update and for some reason the scanner hardware was blank. I selected the correct scanner and it started working again.
