Does anyone know if it's possible to edit my stores' iPad Square POS configuration remotely? I have contacted Square support and gotten very little help. Currently, we have our most "favorited" items on the touchscreen as buttons (in our case, they are buttons for different priced cooking classes). However, we are making price adjustments in the new year, and I need to redo those buttons (both replacing with new items and reordering them). Is this possible to do remotely from the Square dashboard? Or do I physically need to redo the configuration of each iPad in the store? Any help would be much appreciated!
@AndreaTCB Some good news for you. You can edit the button layout of the item grid and it will reflect on all ipads/android tablets, but you have to do it on an ipad or a tablet. I have a tablet in my office to edit the item grid and then it will populate to the other tablets in a store in a different building.
If you change an item and update price/photo/name, the button will reflect all of those changes automatically.
The caveat is that the mobile version on your phone does not correspond to a tablet as far as layout goes. Price changes will reflect, but the tiles on the item grid will not change unless you are on the same kind of device.
Square for restaurants has true remote management of the tablet and item grid, but the interface for restaurants does not use photos, only names and is highly customizable, but can be deployed to alot of devices quickly.
So you can grab tablet, download the app, log in, do your changes, log out and delete the app if need be to make the changes on your ipad in another location.
There is one other work around if you have a PC, but I am not sure it would be appropriate to share it as it is more technically inclined to say the least.
Thank you so much! This is extremely helpful. I have an iPad at home but I didn't even think of using that. I just logged into my account on the iPad which appears to be different than the store's view. So, I'm assuming I would have to login using the store's credentials to make changes to that account.
I've also enlisted someone to help me with this so if I can't get it figured out remotely, just knowing that she only has to make the changes on one of the iPads in store is very helpful. I really wished we had the capability to do it through a PC remotely, but that sounds complicated.
Would you happen to have some quick and easy tips to configuring the screen (I didn't set it up initially) because I'm having trouble finding a help article on how to do that. You are SO much more helpful than Square support has been. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions!
