Notifications shows 1 but nothing there

My notifications shows 1 but there are no messages!  It’s driving me crazy seeing the 1 on the app. How do I fix this?

Have you tried clearing cache in the apps storage?

if you are using Android, long press the app and click app info>storage & cache and clear cache. I am unsure how the process is for Apple.
