Monthly subscription payment

I have set up a monthly subscription for a customer through the dashboard. The email has been sent to the customer, and they have entered their card details, but the payment has not been processed yet. The due payment is scheduled for today, so I initially assumed that it would be charged as soon as the customer entered their card details. However, it appears that the charge may occur closer to 23:59 on the due day. Is it normal procedure? Do you know when the payment will be processed once the card details are entered?

Hi @Saeko - thanks for your post.

I tested this out and my card was automatically charged for a subscription starting today, once I entered the card details via the invoice. Do you know which card brand or bank your customer was with? It seems like this delay may be due to an external authentication.

I would suggest testing it out with your own card if you can and then refunding the transaction, just to see if you experience any delay. From what I can see, the payment should be instant.

Let me know if you have a chance to test this.

Thank you for your message and answer! It is very useful. Many thanks for doing that. The payment did not happen last night. I actually spoke to Square this morning about the issue. Then they found that after the customer puts the card details, I manually needed to allow the card to be charged through the invoice. There is a section called 'Charge payment method on file'. It is all charged now. I was thinking that it would automatically happen like you did though.
