Lately, I've noticed that I can't do a manual entry of a credit card on my phone. I have to log into my square account on my desktop. I'm really not happy with that. Anybody know of another company I can use? Thanks
@cypress22 The only reason I know of for manual payments to be greyed out is if you're running in offline mode. You must have a connection to the internet to run manual cards. This help file talks about manual payments and that limitation.
If you know you're online for payments and it's greyed out, I recommend making sure your app and OS of your device are fully updated. Also sign out, force close the app, restart your phone, and sign back in so the app phones home and gets all the correct settings from Square's servers. That should clear this up.
Hello @cypress22 ! I wouldn't jump ship quite yet. I bet this is just a quick configuration update.
On your phone, tap More -> Settings -> Checkout -> Payment. Scroll down the page. You should see a listing for Manual Credit Card Entry. My bet is that for some reason it got moved to either the "More Payment Types" or the "Disabled Payment Types" section. If it did, press and hold on the six grey dots and drag it up to the "Main Payment Types" section. It will then show as an option when checking someone out.
If it is already in the Main Payment Types section please let us know so we can continue to troubleshoot!

iPhone 16 Pro Max. Square Version 6.64.1sw. I haven't changed anything but now the manual is working. It seems to come and go for no reason that I can tell
I'm glad it's working now! That’s certainly odd. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app? Also, make sure to check for any available updates. If it continues to happen, let me know @cypress22.

Is your app up to date, or are you seeing an error message when trying to enter a CC number? With hat being said have you given any thought to a chip reader by chance. Manual card entries are at a higher risk for both parties involved as well as being a higher % fee taken away from you

I'm not getting any error messages. People book my place with a third party, Booking.com, Expedia and others. I never see the cards
