I'm having issues on busy days when our internet goes on and off and Square goes into offline and back online multiple times.
Here is what's happening: Tabs are not always being shared with our 2 iPads. Taproom person will have to look on co-workers iPad to add to a ticket. That's okay...we're thinking this is due to offline mode not being able to communicate between iPads.
BUT at the end of the night we will have mutiple (5-10) open tabs and no Credit Cards to match up with these tabs.
Often Taproom person will remember closing tickets only to find a lingering ticket at the end of the night. Were these tickets paid in total? We don't know how to tell.

If you are using open order option I would not use Offline mode. It can cause issues. However once you are online you should be able to close your open orders.

I do not know what open order option is. Do you mean open tickets? We do have that option on, it's a must for taproom team to add to peoples tabs. We start tickets for people if they prefer to do so rather than closing out.
A Taproom brewery is our interaction with square.
So people start a ticket/tab, add to over repeatedly over a few hours time. Within this time frame the internet could go down and back up a few times. Then they close out, take their card. Then at the end of the night we see open tickets that we know were closed...but were they processed completely? That's the big question. How do we check when we don't have a name, ticket # or last 4 digits of the card.
We've looked through transactions for amounts but can only randomly find a same amount but that does not prove said card was processed.
We are a seasonal community and when the toursits hit and they are all on the internet I think our system just can't handle it. That's my guess. May need to close the wifi. That won't make for happy beer drinkers.
Open Ticket is what I was going for. You need to close your Wifi, You should not allow any other device on the same network as your busness, Expecially when you are processing credit cards. This is against PCI Compliance. Not to mention it is harming the workflow of your business.
I would contact support and see if they can assist in clearing these out.
