Is there a way to remove my address from digital receipts?

Hi, im a freelance artist who works from home and therefore doesn't have a seperate 'work address'

ive seen threads regarding this issue but no one seemed to have an answer and they were all several years old, i need to remove my address from my receipts and any emails it may show up in as its my home address and i do not feel comfortable with that information being so readily available.

ive tried turning off location but that just adds/removes the map on the reciept, i need to remove the entire address down the bottom.

Hey there @Onii,

 

Just jumping in here while @Arie is out of the office!

Unfortunately, I'm unable to view the images you sent in your previous comment. However, I'd be happy to clarify the expected behaviour when toggling off the option to show your location on your Square receipts.

Once you have toggled this option off, the map is removed from your receipt but the business address actually remains on the receipt. Currently, there is no way to remove the business address from appearing on the bottom of your Square receipts.

For reference, we've included a list of the business information that will be displayed on your receipts here

As a workaround, @Arie's PO Box suggestion would be the best way to protect your personal address currently. 

In the meantime, I've reached out directly to our internal teams to flag this with them and to ask if the option to remove the business address is something that is on our radar.

At the very least, I'll hopefully be able to offer some additional context once I hear back from the team.

Hi @Onii,

 

Welcome to our Seller Community! I'd be happy to assist here.

 

It looks like you've already turned off the show location option on your receipt settings, so your address will no longer be displayed on receipts. A map would only be shown for sales made via your Square Reader, and won't be displayed on invoices or manually entered payments. 

 

You can also enter a PO box in lieu of an address if you have one, the address field.

hi arie

i dont think that seems to be the case,

 here i have the show location turned off

 

and here circled in red is where my address is, it doesnt change no matter what if 'show location' is turned off or on.

the only thing that changes is whether or not this map shows up

Did you have any luck finding out if removal of the address at the bottom is possible? I too share the same conundrum as Onii. Thanks.

Thanks for checking in with us for an update!

I followed up with the team since I hadn't received a response and unfortunately, it appears that we won't be able to remove the address field from digital receipts. Currently, having a physical address on Square digital receipts remains a requirement.

At this time, the workarounds we've previously discussed in this thread are the best options available. I understand this may not be the news you were hoping for. Rest assured, I'll keep a close eye on this feature with the Product Team, and if there are any further changes regarding digital receipts, we'll make sure to share a formal announcement within the Seller Community.
