Is there a way to exclude HST tax on all new items created within an Invoice?

The title of thread has been edited from the original: Setting HST default to no HST on all new items.

We have a produce farm retail business and do not charge HST on 95% of our items. We often create new items from the invoice page, and there's no option to turn off HST at that time, so we end up having to manually take it off that item and then go back into the items page and remove HST from the new item. Sometimes myself or employees forget to remove HST when adding a new item (which we do regularly) and HST will show up on an invoice, with no indication as to which item it has been applied to, so we then have to go through them one by one to find it and remove it. 

So my question is anyone know if we can set HST default setting to always be off?

Currently, Square doesn't offer the ability to set a default tax status for new items created from the invoice page. I'd encourage you to submit a feature request on our Ideate Board. Our team actively monitors these boards, and your input can help us prioritize new features. If you find an existing request similar to yours, feel free to add your comments and vote to support it.

In the meantime, you might want to explore whether a tax exemption rule could suit your business needs. You can find more information on setting up conditional sales tax rules here.

Alright thanks. I'll do that. 

There is no sales tax on raw food or groceries here in Ontario Canada, so I'm sure there are plenty of other small businesses like ours here who can relate to this inconvenience. 

Hopefully that's something which can be improved upon within the software.
