I know there is an "Allow customer to add a tip" box, but unfortunately not everyone feels they need to tip on catering orders. Is there a way to add automatic gratuity without using a service charge?

Hi @courtney511. Those are your only two options. It sounds like you definitely need to use the service charge route when you’re creating invoices.

Yeah. Our accountant hates that. Would be a huge improvement to be able to have that transaction go into tips.

That’s trickier than it sounds. Not all businesses use service charges as tips for customers. They are used for a variety of purposes, not all of them tip related. Then there are the operations that use tip pools, but don’t want service charges to be part of tip pools for all kinds of reasons. If you want, you can submit a feature request to the Invoices Team by clicking here. It might take a while for them to research all of the ramifications of adding a feature like this, though. So I wouldn’t expect a response in the near future.

I mean, that's what I'm saying. We don't want to use the service charge for tips. It would be nice to be able to apply an autograt to invoices. The same feature that is already available in open checks.

I guess that you only have the feature request route, then. If your accountant is unhappy with the little (literally) extra work they have to do to convert this service charge to a tip for tax purposes, I’m out of ideas. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. I hoped one of the three available options would work for you.
