I want to run transactions on my Macbook Pro virtually. Can I use my iPhone and reader to complete

My iPhone and MacBook Pro use the same Apple ID.

Hi @Gizmette Currently, that is not one of the payment methods supported by Virtual Terminal, which is what I assume you are using to create your transactions.  Having said that, this is a really great idea, especially with the new iPhone Tap to Pay functionality.  I’d recommend heading over to Square’s Ideate Board and submitting that to the Virtual Terminal Team.

 

Now, there are a couple of possible work-arounds.  You could put a swipe reader on your Mac, but it would require an adapter unless your Mac has an audio port or a lightning port.  You could also enable “Send payment link” and send the payment link to your phone which you could then use to process the customer’s card.  And, of course, there is always the more expensive, but great option, of purchasing a Square Terminal and using it to process Virtual Terminal transactions using Connected Terminal mode.

I finally chatted with Support which essentially gave me the same answer.  So I will just work with my phone.  It seemed a little silly to use two devices as I think about it.
