Hello,
How do I waste expired products from my inventory at the end of each day?
COMP reports do not give out 'cost' prices for what's wasted only sales price.
Please advise?
Hey @TGPH you are able to "loss" items by changing your inventory levels for each item on its individual item page in your library. In the Pricing and Inventory section you will have a stock count, tap the number and it will give you various options such as Stock Received, Damage, Loss etc. Choose Loss and then enter the amount to adjust by!

Hello,
Thanks for this answer. Where do I see a report for these 'loss' items? How do I know what's been 'loss' adjusted?
Great question! I’ve been waiting for a simple to use “Loss Report” for a long time.
There isn’t a dedicated report, but you can see the losses by going to Items > History > Change the Adjustment Type filter to “Lost”
Because this isn’t a report though, you unfortunately can’t export it, which sucks!
Something else that is a pain for me is you are able to filter by staff member(s), but you can’t see a breakdown of each loss (or even totals) by staff member.
Please can you advise why we are unable to see a report for Loss?
As a groery store how would you advise we adjust for expired items? This is fundamentally basic functionality..?
@artizansty we are currently 'comping' the items that waste with a custom reason 'EXPIRED - BAKERY' 'EXPIRED - FRUIT & VEG'
this can be spat out into reports but it doesn't give you the cost price in that report which sucks.
Hello there @TGPH, thanks for your post.
As @ARTIZANSTY has mentioned you are able to mark your inventory as s Stock Received, Damage, Loss etc, but we don't have a specific report that generates from this data with Square Point of Sale currently.
We understand how beneficial this would be and it is a popular feature request so I'll be sure to update you on this thread when we have more information on it.
In the mean time in terms of managing waste/stock loss, Square integrates with MarketMan who have a great waste management system, built for restaurants but can be integrated with retail.
If you have any questions about getting started with MarketMan—including their plans and pricing—you may also want to take a look at their Support Centre.
