I offer private car transfers for travellers. I use the "Send payment link" option frequently as it allows me to take pre-payment at the time of confirmation, long before I meet the traveller face to face. I have regular travel routes saved as items with fixed prices (eg "Airport to City hotel", $100). The problem is when I give the person a discount, the cost breakdown shown to the customer in the payment link is a compete mess. It does not show the item price before discount, then discount, then cost to customer. For example, for a ride as above that's normally $100, I want to give the customer a $20 discount. When the customer goes to the payment link, it shows the item as $80, subtotal $80, discount $20, Order total $80.
When customers see that, the fact they're getting a discount isn't obvious, or even worse sometimes they think the $20 discount should be applied to the item price of (incorrectly showing as) $80.
I want the breakdown to be showing as: Item price $100. Discount $20. Order total $80.
This breakdown is shown correctly on the receipt, but that's after they've paid already.
Is there a way to have the price and discount breakdown displayed correctly from the start of the process?
Hi @Gdrew 👋,
Welcome to the Community—and great question!
Could you walk me through how you created and applied your discount to your payment link? For example, did you set up a discount for your customers to enter at checkout, or did you apply a sale price directly to the item?
From what you've described, it sounds like expected behaviour, but we might be able to make some small adjustments to how the discount is currently applied to clarify things for your customers. I’ll wait to hear back from you!
