I give a $10 loyalty discount when A customer gets 200 points. I have had customers get mad when they return Items because rather than just taking the $10 off one item the system divides the $10 evenly among the number of items purchased. In other words, if a customer buys 5 items, $2 is subtracted from each item during the return no matter how much the items cost. How can I fix it so the $10 is simply subtracted from an item NOT being returned?

So after confirming with the Loyalty and Marketing team, they confirmed that this is normal behavior. They also mentioned that this is how whole purchase discounts are implemented in the POS system as well, not just Loyalty or Marketing products.
While I do see your point as to how this would be helpful and less confusing for customers, it's something in the works notated by our product team to fix. However in full transparency, there isn't an exact ETA as to when this will be modified.
