How do I charge sales tax?

every time I go to check someone out and click for the sales tax to be added, it only adds like $0.02 to the total. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but it’s causing me to have to eat the sales tax. An anyone help? The sales tax for my area is 0.06%
