The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Split items
I am trying to see a way to split a bottle of wine into small & large glass sales. I currently have the glass sale as a variation but this isn't reducing the stock allocated for the bottle stock. For example when I sell 3 large glasses it is not reducing the bottle stock by 1. Is there a better way of doing this? The only way I can think of is to sell the wine by 50ml quantities but then you need to add 3 or 5 items to get to the required quantity.
Hi @WithybrookVH!
Credit to you for trialling the workaround using variations! As you’ve probably already noticed, this method does require manual stock updates and close tracking of sales across each variation.
We’ve actually developed the Stock Conversion feature to make inventory management easier when selling the same item in different units. For example, if you sell wine by the bottle and by the glass, Stock Conversion lets you track inventory from a single variation, so no matter how it’s sold, your stock count adjusts automatically.
This feature is available with a Square for Retail Plus or Premium plan, or a Square for Restaurants Plus or Premium plan.
I recommend checking out this Support Article first to confirm if it's the right fit for your setup.
