The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Is there a way to store cc information when starting a tab?"
This is a follow up to Is there a way to store cc information when starti... - The Square Community from 2022. I'm wondering if this is possible now?
Reading through Create and edit open tickets | Square Support Center - US, I see "payment information will not be stored" - wondering if there is a different way to start a tab that does allow you to store cc information at first swipe/before sale?
Hi @julia_cw - I see this is your first post in the Square Community so I'd like to officially welcome you! 🎉👏 My name is Violet and I'm one of the Moderators here. I'm happy to provide you with some information.
We do have a pre-authorization feature to start tabs, but this is currently only available for Square for Restaurants Free, Plus, and Premium, as well as Square Plus and Premium with advanced restaurants capabilities added. If you're interested in Square for Restaurants or Square Plus, you can find more information on the linked pages. If you'd like to check out one of the paid plans, you can also initiate a 30-day free trial to see if it's the right fit for you. After the trial expires, you can choose to pay for a continued subscription. We don't ask for any payment information in order to begin the trial. If you'd prefer to stay with your current Square plan, I'd suggest using the Open Tickets feature you mentioned, but please note, this will not save your customer's card information.
I hope this information is helpful, but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.
