I’m a small retailer using Astro Loyalty, which involves applying discounts and comped offers on my transactions. These discounts and offers are reimbursed by my distributors.
However, I’ve been informed that, despite these adjustments, customers are still required to pay sales tax on the full retail value of the items, as per local regulations. I'm not sure exactly how I can ensure through Square that each transaction is getting that correct sales tax.
Currently, in my POS setup, if I adjust an item’s price, apply a discount, or comp an item, the sales tax automatically adjusts accordingly, based on my local 6% sales tax rate. I’d like to manually ensure that customers are charged sales tax on the full retail value of the items, regardless of any discounts or comped offers.
Does anyone know if there’s a way to configure Square to handle this scenario? Are there any other retailers that use Astro loyalty and have run into this issue or others? Thanks in advance for any guidance here!
Hey there @caninodc ,
Thanks for the inquiry! I am going to tag @Candlestore who can share his expertise. Thank you!!
I am not sure how that cn be done, since we are required in my area to charge tax on the Purchase price after a Discount is applied and not the full price before any discounts. I know you can swipe the Tax off, but I am not sure how to adjust the tax to the full retail price before discounts.
