I own a food trailer that at certain events we are crazy busy and try to have customers orders ready by the time they are finished paying. My problem is the printer doesn't print the order until the payment is completed. I purchased a smart tv to mirror my iPad but if we get a little behind preparing an order we might miss an item on the screen then we have to wait on the printer. 

is there a kds that might work better? And if so what additional hardware would I need? I use an iPad so no android.

Any suggestions or advice is appreciated .

Hello @Ribeye74 !

Unfortunately KDS still gets the order after it is paid on the tablet. I do believe a KDS would be better in a food truck environment though, mostly due to the smaller footprint it needs.

What you can do is to enable Open Tickets (More -> Settings -> Open Tickets). Then, once the customer orders, your cashier can save the ticket before taking payment. So your order flow would look like:

• Customer Orders
• Cashier saves the ticket
• Order prints/displays on the KDS
• Cashier reopens the ticket
• Cashier takes payment
• (Hopefully!) You're ready to serve the meal

It's a little bit of a kludge, but I've used this in the past in my store when people were in a rush.
