When you have Employee Permissions turned on Square Register hiccups as follows:
Add a Customer to the Order or Ticket and you are immediately logged out and requested to re-enter your pin number to complete the transaction, no transaction data is lost but you are requested to re-enter a pin.
When you add a Customer to the Order for Square Loyalty the above also happens.
When you are at the payment screen and need to go backward back into the transaction you are immediately logged out and requested to re-enter your pin number. All you are doing is going back to edit the transaction.
Employee management is set for Employees to have the Default Employee Role, this also happens for the default Management Role. Turning off Employee Management requires no pin number entry to do anything on the POS, so the flaw happens only when Management is turned on in the Square Dashboard.
This can be annoying to staff who have to re-login every few seconds to do various parts of a transaction on the POS, no roles seem to have an on.ioff switch to stop this from happening.
Hey!! Thanks for bringing this up. It sounds like this could be a matter of extending the timeout time and passcode requirements on the register. Let me know if changing these settings helps:
This should help keep your Register logged into each employee a little longer. It's possible that the team members are just being logged out every 30 seconds or so, causing these issues.

Hi AhsleyK this sort of worked, unchecking the After Each Sale it no longer logs you out when adding a customer, we can work with this, for now, we just have to remember to logout after each sale now, which should be ok, we will just have to tell the staff to log out before walking away. Thank you for your help.
I'm happy that worked!! I still think there is some more digging we can do because adding a customer to a sale shouldn't cause your employees to be logged out, so I sent a case to our support teams to take a closer look. 🙂
Is there a way to give servers and leads more specific tiered access such as reports and transactions without giving them access to other things? Also, we want the managers to be able to see the activity log and Teams with only their direct reports without getting full access to everything? Also, is there a way to make it so that only the owner (myself) can toggle on and off the "can clock in" on the Team app.
HI, you can review Team Management and Permissions with these Square Support pages.

How can I setup my employee to accept payments with their mobile device?
It's so easy! If you have them set up correctly on your Team, they just need to download the app and log in under your business name with their email and password. If you do not have them listed as an employee you will have to do that under either Team or Team Management and make sure you have given them the proper permissions under your Settings.
Hello
Is there a way to lock items and/or discounts? We've recently had some issues with people creating new items without previous permission and it's throwing off our inventories.
Thanks
Hi @TankMuseum
This would be handled in your team permissions, only let those you 100% trust mess with items and discounts.
For discounts, I would enable passcodes so they can be tracked to the team member using them.
Hi @TankMuseum - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community👋
I went ahead and merged your post to an existing thread where other Square Sellers have discussed Team Permissions. We merge duplicate conversations together to keep like comments in one place, and to make it easier for others to find the thread in the future.
Thank you for your help here, @LukeNieuw! 🙂
