Don't offer my customers suggested items

We use our online site to facilitate our school lunch program and set Categories to separate items offered on different days. Is there a way to turn off suggested items for our student/customers?

We will often have kids ordering for one day and the site is offering them items from a different category so they think it's available but it's not.

On the edit item page, you can use the left-hand edit bar to toggle off similar items.  This will only apply to that item.  I feel like there is a way to do it on every page at once but I can't remember where that is.
