Domain Says Connected but won't choose destination

I have connected my domain dealsandstealsmd.com automatically with GoDaddy. The domain shows as connected but is showing a 404 error after over 48 hours. When I click choose a destination for the domain, it says disconnected, and will not save any changes. I don't see a way to cancel out the connection and start over

Hey @dealsandsteals.  Let’s investigate a few things here.  Please do the following:

  1. go to your Square online dashboard > Online > Website > Domains.
  2. Take a screen shot and post that in a reply here.
  3. Click Manage to the right of your domain, and take a screen shot of that and post.
  4. IF the DNS records section does not show up on that second screen shot, scroll down and take a screen shot of that as well and post.

After I see those, I can probably help you get this resolved pretty quickly.

Thanks!

I don't see a DNS record section. I took a third screenshot of the destination page, that does not save.Screenshot 2024-08-11 at 11.18.40 PM.pngScreenshot 2024-08-11 at 11.19.00 PM.pngScreenshot 2024-08-11 at 11.19.29 PM.png

@dealsandsteals Thanks for all of that.

Your last comment in your most recent post says the destination page does not save.  Do you mean that you choose “connect to one of my current sites,” then you choose your site and try to save and it doesn’t?  If so, this is a strange technical glitch.  Try this before we get customer support involved.

  1. Sign out of your online dashboard.
  2. Clear your browser’s cookies and browsing history.
  3. Restart your browser and sign back into your Square online dashboard.
  4. Navigate back to the “Edit site destination” screen shown in your third screen shot.
  5. Click on the radio button for “connect to one of my current sites.”
  6. Follow those screens to connect your  GoDaddy domain to your website with Square.  This is how you specify that Square is hosting the website that GoDaddy is pointing to.
  7. Save everything.

After that, give it 20-30 minutes.  That’s all it should take, really.  I used to have a GoDaddy site and it never took anywhere near the full 24 hours.  But, it COULD take up to 24 hours if something weird is going on.

Let me know if that works.

@dealsandsteals Ok.  My guess is that this has something with still having your free *.square.site domain connected to your account, but I can’t be sure.  You are going to need to get on the phone with Square Support for this one.  There’s something weird going on here.  Sorry I can’t be of more help.
