Why does square do nothing to protect us from customers winning disputes they don’t supposed to win?
@Chefwinston I had my first disputes this year in as many as I can remember. I had 1 from a customer who shops here all the time, and I just haven't found him yet, but they still got refunded.
I had another guy where he did it once, I called him and he said "oh my bad". But then a few days later he did another. I made sure to put his name so whenever another order comes in, I am going to catch him and take care of that one. Square did help by sending multiple receipts where the customer had shopped with us. Granted I do thousands a day, and this one was 8$, but it aggravates the crap out of you and your reputation. I worry something was wrong with the order.
I think that what is happening is the banking apps making it tooo easy to dispute something. 2 clicks and a dispute is started. I don't like that. Legit fraud transaction, I have no problem.
I make sure to go back and find the customer in my directory and look at their purchase history so I know if it is a one off or not.
That being said, if it is a big amount, you can still send a demand letter/bill to the customer and if it is fraudulent disputing, take them to small claims court. Not convenient, but if I have a little extra time, I would do it in a heartbeat.
