As the title says, discounts are now showing incorrectly on the receipts.
I have a discount where we enter the amount and it is taken off the whole bill.
Since today, the receipt is now showing the discount split between the number of items rather than as an amount of the whole bill.
This was working fine at the weekend.
Has anything changed?
Thanks for the example @MileandaThird. I checked with our team and can confirm this change is part of a recent product update.
We have revamped the visualisation of itemised discounts on printed and digital receipts. We now show both the starting price of a product, the final price of the product, and most of all - the math in between, surfacing each discount applied in its respective order.
I want to stress that this is a purely cosmetic change — the underlying logic we use to calculate discount hasn't changed. In the example above, the total shown after discount is still £4.00, which is the right amount.
We've shared your feedback with the appropriate team so they can have a better understanding of how this may affect your business operations. If you have any further suggestions, please let me know on this thread and I'll surface with our team as well.'
Hi @MileandaThird, thanks for your post.
No changes have been made that I'm aware of, could you post or DM me a photo of a bill where this has happened as an example so I can look into this further?
I'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Below is an example receipt.
The discount was £0.60, before this week, the reciept would show the discount as being £0.60 at the bottom.
Now it is splitting it between items which is incorrect.

I notice that receipts have now gone back to the old style of showing only one discount instead of splitting it across all items. Has this changed been backed out then?
Hi @MileandaThird, thanks for coming back to us on this.
I'm looking into this, quick question - what Square hardware are you using to take payments? The Square Register? Square Stand with iPad?
I'll keep an eye out for your response.
Hi @MileandaThird, I hope you're well 🙂
Just dropping in to share this recent product update - Customize Your Receipt Discounts.
You can choose to show or hide discounts on the item level of your receipts.
So your Terminal receipts should be much more compact now.
The steps to enable this feature are in the link attached.
Just to note if you use the Square Terminal: I had to enable this setting on my Dashboard and then run a software update on my Square Terminal in order to apply the change.
