Is it possible to create a custom report showing item sales by category?
Hi @Artsmp. The standard Category Sales report (located at Reports -> Category Sales in your online dashboard) has a lot of customization options. Can you be specific about what you need to customize so that I can point you in the right direction? Usually the options available for that standard report do all that I ever need, anymore.
Thanks!
@Artsmp ;
I just looked into creating a Custom Report to do Category sales. I also looked at the report Category Sales. Both give you the Quantity sold in a Category but not the individual items. So through the Square Dashboard I do not believe this is possible. Now through your Transactions Export you could export your Transactions Details and your Transaction items to a Spreadsheet such as Google Sheets or Excel. Once you open these you can choose Insert from the top row, then choose Pivot Table. Then you can click filters to apply and which headers from the CSV you want to appear. Here are a few Screen shots from google sheets
From the csv file in Google Sheets or excel choose Insert as circled in Red below.
From Csv file
Then Choose Pivot Table see picture.
Choose Insert -Pivot Table
Then it will ask New or exsisting sheet... Choose New.
Choose add New Sheet
After you choose a New Sheet you will get the below image.
Then you will get this
Then you can choose Headers to go in your Rows Columns etc on the right side. You may have to play around with these to get it to appear as you like.
Select your headers for rows cloumns etc
So now after pressing the + next to 28oz I can easily see I sold how many of these 28oz candles for the downloaded time frame.
Gives totals
Good idea, @Candlestore. FYI, the Item Sales standard report also lists category. So that report could be used just as you used the Transactions Detail report. Just another avenue.
You are correct, for the Category of sales. The last (bottom) picture shows that X of 28oz jars were sold, but also adds that 1 of Balsam Fir, 1 of Bacon etc so you can see how many of each Item Items in the category or $ by doallar amounts if you like. With Square I see you can see how many in a category were sold but not how many of a singular item that is under the category was sold there. Unless I missed that.
