We have a printer activated till drawer and a square terminal which we are using through the website on a chromebook.
Is there a way we can connect the till drawer to a terminal hub or to the chromebook to make it activate whenever we complete a sale?
Hello @BalloonVault !
I just want to make sure I'm reading your question correctly: you're using the Virtual Terminal off the website to ring in orders? Although honestly even if you're using the Square Terminal, I think the answer is going to be the same.
If your drawer is printer driven, I don't think you can unfortunately. If the cable from the drawer has an old phone line style connector at the end it must be plugged into a compatible receipt printer. If it is a USB connection, you may be able to plug it into the chromebook, but I don't believe the virtual terminal can see it.
With the Sq Terminal, you can plug USB drawers into the hub and it'll be seen, but if it's the phone cord
connector you'll still need a printer to drive it.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
How is the Printer connected to the Chromebook?
I have a printer driven Till Drawer and I am able to access it through my Cellular device. I have a network connected receipt printer that drives the cash drawer though and the Network attached printer is connected to a wireless repeater via network cable (10/100/1000 ethernet). So you might be able to do this the same way I have. I went with the Star USB/Bluetooth/Network receipt printer which is out of stock currently here is the link- mc-print3-receipt-printer
I have not tried using this through the terminal or a Chromebook since I do not have a terminal and do not use a Chromebook for sales.
