Change audio from turning to max

When using my phone I sometimes will jump on the app to review previous day's. If my headphones are plugged in the audio immediately goes to Max volume, I'm pretty sure this is going to cause some damage. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

That sounds frustrating. Really sorry that this has been happening.

What reader do you use? The Contactless + Chip Reader? Or the Magstripe Reader that plugs into a headphone jack?
