I'm also experiencing the exact same issue on Square Terminal. No settings etc have been changed in the background.

It’s a bit tricky to say what might be causing this without more detail, but in similar cases I’ve seen, the issue is often due to a drop in network connection, or multiple devices competing for the same network, which can cause a bottleneck.
As a first step, I recommend following the instructions in our troubleshooting guide to reset your Wi-Fi router. After that, restart your device and reconnect to Wi-Fi.
