Can't add cash payment method

Hi - I am having difficulty adding cash payment method.

I understand to enable cash payment I need to : "In the app you should tap the three lines to go to settings ----> checkout ---->payment types"

But, I do not have the 'checkout' option when I enter the settings on the App??

Any help?

In the app make sure your on the Checkout tab at the bottom of your device.  Add the items or custom price for the sale. Then Press Charge.  This will open another screen and you should have the option to select a few predefined amounts or enter a custom amount of cash Received.  Then Press Tender on the app.  Another screen should pop up telling you the amount of change to give the person.

From here you press Charge:

From here you can choose the Amount they gave you or Press Custom for the amount you need to type in:

Thank you for your time to reply Keith. My issue is that I can't get the CASH payment type to appear as an option at checkout. I am the Owner with Full Access to everything  - but while in the POS App and select Settings - there is no Checkout option to select. I am baffled.

Scroll and find 

Cash Management

 

Mine was already on.

Hi y'all - my 'Settings' screen only shows me 4 options : favorites, hardware, orders, and account (see below). I think there should be more options - like: security, checkout, add-ons ... I am baffled??

Are you using an Iphone?   The screenshots look similar to my Ipad screens.  

Try going More  - Support -- About ..... what version are you on for the app?

 

Should be 616.1 .   The Icon you are using for Square for Retail is it a Green or Black Square logo?

 

You may not need to Enable Cash Payment Type.

 

Goto Checkout (shopping cart) bottom Left.

 

Use the search for an item field and search for one of your items from your catalog.

Click add to cart.

 

Charge... as I showed in previous picture, bottom right.

 

This is when you would Tap, Dip or swipe a Credit Card if the customer was using one, but since you want to take Cash.  You should see buttons that have some prefilled amounts or a Button that shows Custom.  

 

Do you see that Screen after pressing Charge?

Hi Keith,

1. using version 6.16.1

2. Icon is green

3. Checkout screen doesn't offer cash payment - see screenshot below

There must be something in the permission settings or general settings that is prohibiting me from accessing / editing payment types?? I don't get it?

Neither do I, that is strange.  I would Call support maybe they can walk you through some hidden settings or maybe it is something that changed in an update.

I think I am not logged in as the owner perhaps because all my sales today were assigned to 'untracked team member' - maybe thats why I don't have permission to gain access to all the settings? How do I log in as the owner - I thought that was the default setting since I am the one that set up everything??

That is not the issue of being signed in as untracked team member vs owner, I just tried it as my one user and then as my owner and have the same screens on my Ipad as you displayed in previous photos for both my accounts.  The one has limits as a Cashier and the other has FULL access as owner.

 

On my Ipad running Square for Retail these are the only 4 things under Settings :

Favorites,

Hardware,

Orders,

and Account.

Just like you showed.

 

My Android Device has More settings but does not Have Square for Retail, only Square POS.  Android devices can not have Square for Retail app as of now, and I actual have the Square Beta app on my Android.

This is why I think you need to call Square support to find the setting to enable the Cash Management from you Square Dashboard through a computer.

Hi Keith - thanks for all your input and time with this matter. After speaking with customer service last night - we determined that I needed to open my Square POS App to access the Settings -> Checkout -> ... and that this is not accessible via the Square Retail App.

Confusing for sure! But it was explained to me that the Retail software is an extension of the POS software and some functions have to be managed through the POS App and will implement on the Retail App.

I was able to able the Cash payment type via the POS App - so I am all good for now.
