Can I use a third-party reader with the Square Point of Sale app?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Multiple card readers

 

Hi,

 

I use Square card reader currently for my business but would like to use a different card reader such as Zetgle or Sumup for another branch. Can both these card  readers be linked to the same business bank account when used separately? Thanks.

Thanks for writing in and welcome to our Community, @DunfermlinePT! You can use other terminals for your other locations, however Square doesn't integrate with other card readers, or point of sale systems.

Sure, thanks for your reply. Also, can two square card readers be used on two different mobiles linked to the same bank  account with two separate transaction lists and with the second user having limited or no access to my transaction history?

Hi @DunfermlinePT, just stepping in for Arie. 

 

Yes, you can have two Square Readers taking payments on two different devices for the same account. 

 

To limit the second user to you'll need to set them up as team member on your Square account and assign them a custom permission set. From there you can limit what they do and don't have access to on your account, transaction history for example. Here's an example of a custom permission set:

You can follow the steps in our support article Get Started with Team Management to get your team member and their permission set set up. 

 

You'll also be able to filter your reports by device, so you can differentiate who took what payment.
