Can I setup shipping rates per item on Square Online?

I've set my shipping rates by weight and everything works fine, but now I got some new products that require special packaging and therefore should be charged an extra flat rate per item, is there a way to do that?

One thing I noticed lately is when I've looked into how to connect other things like Printful to square, their shipping prices are a lot lower than mine, however I can't change my shipping costs by product, could this be something that's brought in soon, because I cant really move forward without it, and if there's a workaround id be interested in finding out how I can make this work without showing incorrect prices.

Hey @MJD, thanks for raising this! I've checked with our team and we still don't have a timeline to share when setting shipping cost by product is available just yet but it's worth keeping an eye on our Beta Community.

I haven't come across any workaround myself but I'll be sure to share it here if I see anything. The only thing I can think of is to build the shipping cost into the item price itself but this may not be a good workaround if you have a large item library.

Thanks, I thought of building the shipping cost into the item but even then it’d have the rest of my item library shipping options and no free option and the shipping prices vary quite a bit.. seems like I’ll just have to wait for now

Hi guys! Was just wondering if it was possible to add specific shipping rates to specific items. A couple of my products require a higher rate than the others. If this available currently or being looked into? I would imagine a lot of people are in a similar position to me!

It is not currently possible to set up your shipping rates per item or category, but I can definitely see how a feature like this would be useful. 

Can you give us a little more detail about the products that require a higher rate? Are they oversized, or do they require a special handling fee?

Hi @BernadetteA - thank you! I hope you are keeping well.

I am a photographer, so I primarily sell prints. However I also sell calendars at around this time of year. Due to their larger size and weight particularly (and the fact I use a different supplier to prints), their postage cost in much greater than that of prints. Thus, I need to charge a higher amount for this to cover my costs.

The feature would be so so useful to just be able to change this! Please do consider making this a reality!

Thanks for the info! How are you currently generating rates? Are you using the manual calculator, or are you using real time shipping?

I'm currently using the option to use weights. I'm not in the US so I don't think the real time shipping etc is available in the UK.

Yes, you are correct about real time rates.

If you are using the weight calculator I can suggest a couple of things; 

1. Edit the weight of the item to include the additional cost of shipping. For example, if your item is shipped with an oversized weight fee you can edit the weight to take this in to account. Most courier services have some type of calculated rate based on the lengthxwidth of package. I believe it is referred to as dimensional or billable rate. 

2. Use the Item Modifier option to add additional shipping fees, and make them required modifiers.

I just want to share an update the ability to setup shipping fees per items is now available with Square Online site. You may notice the Shipping fee setup looks slightly different now as well. 

You can now add multiple shipping profiles and set it up so either fees will apply to all items or to specific items that you have.

Hiya,

Any idea how we can set up different shipping rates for different countries for the same item?
I was trying to create 2 custom shipping rules but the minute I add the same item to the 2nd profile, it removes it from the first one thus restricting me to set different shipping costs for different parts of the world for the same item.
